- 4 Hour CCW Renewal Course – Good for Merced County Sheriff’s Department ONLY
- Live-fire qualification to be done at Stage Stop Gun Shop in Atwater, California
- Course will be broken down into 7 sections
- Student must complete each section, section quizzes, and final exam at the end of the course.
- Student may stop at any time, and come back to course at any time.
- Student will have 30 days to start, finish, and print certificate of completion
- Certificate of completion for this course is good for 30 days
- Certificate of completion must be presented at Stage Stop Gun Shop in Atwater, California when coming to complete live-fire qualification.
- Students will not be able to reprint certificate after 30 days has expired.
The live-fire qualification must be completed in order to finish your course. You must qualify with all of the firearms you want to put on your permit. Some jurisdictions have no limits on how many guns you can list on your permit. Some jurisdictions only allow up-to a specific number of handguns. Any handgun that you want to carry, must be registered with the California DOJ to the CCW applicant, or their spouse. You may not use a firearm that was purchased outside of California and never registered with the California DOJ, or that currently belongs to another person.
The live-fire qualification must be done at Stage Stop Gun Shop in Atwater, California . You must qualify with all of the firearms you want to put on your permit. Merced county has a limit of 5 guns you may list on your CCW permit.
The minimum course of fire is:
5 rounds fired at 3 yards.
10 rounds fired at 5 yards.
5 rounds fired at 8 yards.
You will shoot a minimum of 20 rounds per firearm, but if you are listing more than 3 firearms, your course of fire will be amended accordingly. You are required to shoot at least 20 rounds out of each of your firearms. Doing the minimum course of fire, your target should have 20 holes in it when it is scored.
Course of Fire
- Live-fire course can be completed during regular business hours at Stage Stop Gun Shop in Atwater, California
- Student will need to shoot all the guns that they wish to keep, or add, onto their renewed CCW permit, one magazine or cylinder minimum
- Live-fire exercise consists of 20 rounds per firearm:
- 5 rounds fired at 3 yards
- 10 rounds fired at 5 yards
- 5 rounds fired at 8 yards
- Total round count is 20 rounds per firearm.
- Ammunition for the qualification is not provided by SSGS and is the responsibility of the student to bring with or to purchase.
- All students are required to compete the range waver prior to range qualification, at Stagestopgunshop.com. Waiver is located at the bottom of the page in the orange “Sign Our Waiver” box.
- Course cost covers qualification with three firearms. There will be a $15.00 charge for each additional firearm qualification.
- Range Use/Practice before qualification will be subject to standard Stage Stop Gun Shop Range fees.
- If a student fails to qualify, they will be allowed one re-qualification. There will be a $50.00 charge for each re-qualification, thereafter.
